‘I’ve been told…’ – Thomas Frank reveals Joe Lewis family talks, shares what’s been said

Thomas Frank will be hoping to vindicate Tottenham’s decision to appoint him head coach this season.

Change has been the buzzword at Tottenham these past couple of months.

Daniel Levy stepped down as Spurs chairman after almost 25 years, while Tottenham appointed Adam Gardiner as their new Chief Marketing Officer shortly after.

Frank arrived in the middle of the chaos. Ange Postecoglou had just vacated his role and Spurs were trying and failing to make an impact in the transfer window. But the former Brentford boss failed to let that faze him, having a remarkable start to life in North London.

And it now seems that all his hard work thus far has paid off.

Thomas Frank has Joe Lewis family backing

The Joe Lewis family have made Tottenham’s sporting success their priority, with it understood to have played a role in Levy’s exit.

Frank became head coach at Tottenham to boost their Premier League chances after a disappointing 17th-place finish last season. So far, the Dane has done an excellent job with Spurs’ recent win over West Ham, continuing his stellar start to the season.

According to Alastair Gold in the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (13 September), Frank has said he’s received backing from the Lewis family.

Frank said: “I’ve spoken to a few from the Lewis family and Peter Charrington, the new non-executive chairman. So there’s been good, constructive conversations, and I feel the backing and they’re happy.

“Everything I sense, I’ve been told is positivity and backing.”

With the Lewis family behind him, there is a feeling that Frank can achieve great things in North London.

What is next at Tottenham?

The Lewis family are keen to focus on Spurs’ sporting success over the coming years.

It has been suggested that ousting Levy is part of a bigger strive to achieve great things on the pitch under Frank and beyond.

Spurs’ summer window has been seen by many as a step in the right direction. There remains a belief that the transfers of Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani to Tottenham are representative of the club’s aims to compete with their fellow ‘big six’ teams.

With the season still long and plenty more football left to be played, it remains to be seen whether change will be immediate. But after a stellar start, Frank seems to be the right man to reach great heights at Tottenham.
