How press in Spain rated Tottenham star Pedro Porro in win over Turkiye
Pedro Porro has been one of Tottenham’s standout players during the international break.
The defender was destined for a strong start to the season after Porro’s strong display against Wycombe during Tottenham’s pre-season fixtures.
The full-back formed an impressive partnership with Wilson Odobert, who was also incredible for Spurs during pre-season, down the right flank.
His ball progression and crosses made it clear that he would form the basis of Spurs’ attacking plays moving forward.
Porro’s budding relationship with new Tottenham signing Mohammed Kudus has been an interesting watch. Porro often holds width when Kudus cuts inside, while the two have already formed a telepathic understanding.
Now, after back-to-back solid international showings, Tottenham fans will be keen to see him back at Hotspur Way.

Pedro Porro ‘energetic’ vs Turkey
Tottenham’s Porro was highly praised for his performance during Spain’s 3-0 win over Bulgaria in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers and his display against Turkiye was no different.

- The right back created three big chances, one of those being one big chance
According to Sports Dunia on 7 September, Porro but on another “energetic” display for his national team.
The full-back was a “constant outlet”, creating multiple chances and putting in several dangerous crosses.
While he was defensively sold, the outlet mentions that he was dribbled past on multiple occasions, which made him vulnerable in several respects. As such, he was given a seven for his overall rating.
Goal Spain on 7 September also rated the full-back a seven for his performance. The outlet mentioned that Kenan Yildiz did not have the space or time to showcase his skills because of Porro.

How has Pedro Porro performed for Tottenham this season?
The right-back has been excellent for Tottenham going forward this season.
His assist stats, to which he has not recorded a single one, do not do his creativity justice. In the four Premier League games played, Porro has recorded 0.15 per 90 in expected assists and has created 1.79 chances.
Expected assists (xA) | 0.15 per 90 |
Chances created | 1.79 per 90 |
Successful crosses | 1.79 per 90 |
Cross accuracy | 33.3% |
Tackles won | 1.08 per 90 |
Tackles won % | 60% |
Duels won | 3.23 per 90 |

Fouls committed | 1.79 per 90 |
However, defensively, he has been less solid. Porro has won just 60 per cent of his tackles and 40.9 per cent of his duels, which is high compared to other players in his position.
Tottenham’s budding trio of Joao Palhinha, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero has helped limit this. But as the season progresses and Spurs face tougher opposition, the cracks could begin to show.
