Harry Redknapp shares next Tottenham manager claim for Daniel Levy

Daniel Levy faces a tough decision on Ange Postecoglou’s future at Tottenham.

The Australian has presided over one of the most miserable seasons in Spurs’ recent history and is under severe pressure to retain his job.

The Lilywhites are in the Europa League semi-finals but that may not be enough for the former Celtic boss to stick around, as the atmosphere that he has created in North London is toxic.

Redknapp shares Levy warning as Postecoglou holds on

If Postecoglou wins a European trophy in his second season in charge in N17, it would make Levy’s decision even harder.

Harry Redknapp has warned the under-fire owner that it may be a difficult task to find a successor if the 59-year-old is dismissed.

Speaking to Bet Victor, he said: “I think it all depends on the Europa League for Ange Postecoglou.”

“If he wins that, I find it difficult to believe he’d leave the club after bringing Tottenham a major trophy – something they’ve lacked for decades.

“He also would’ve kept to his word of always winning a trophy in his second season, so Ange would argue he’s done the job that was required of him.

“If he does leave, it’s difficult to think of a natural successor. It’s tough to talk about alternatives while Ange is still in the job, but I don’t think there’s many managers out there that would appeal to Tottenham at the moment.”

Postecoglou has to go even if Tottenham taste success

While it would be a harsh decision, Postecoglou should be sacked regardless of whether he ends the 17-year trophy drought or not that has haunted the North London outfit since the 2008 League Cup win.

The atmosphere that he has developed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in recent years is a shambles, with high-profile bust-ups with supporters and senior players such as James Maddison.

The Australian has led a dismal league campaign.

Success in Europe’s second-rate competition is not good enough for a club of Spurs’ stature, they should be aiming for the top honours, such as the Premier League and Champions League.

If the former Celtic man is in the dugout for the foreseeable future, there is no chance that they will be contending for those big trophies anytime soon, as he has proved that he is not good enough to contend at the highest level.

Levy would probably win back a huge portion of the fanbase that has been protesting against his leadership if he makes the decision and sends Postecoglou on his way to bring in an exciting new manager such as Carlo Ancelotti, Xavi, Andoni Iraola or Marco Silva.

A return for Mauricio Pochettino would also have Spurs supporters dreaming of a brighter future but he may be harder to tempt, given his World Cup ambitions with the United States national team.
