Harry Redknapp explains why Daniel Levy was ‘very good’ during his spell as Tottenham manager
Daniel Levy seems to have one man backing his corner after he stepped down as Tottenham chairman.
After almost 25 years, Levy has left his position as Tottenham chairman.
At first, this appeared to be a mutual agreement between Levy and the Lewis family, but it seems that Joe Lewis is determined to take Tottenham in another direction, one that prioritises the sporting success of the North London club as opposed to the business side of things.
For years, Tottenham fans have blamed Levy for every little thing that has gone wrong at the club. But it seems there is a bigger picture that fans have missed.

There continues to be an assumption at Tottenham that Levy had the final say in the running of things.
Undoubtedly, he played a huge role in the decisions. However, it seems that he was more of the face of the club while Lewis worked behind the scenes.

- Meanwhile, ENIC owns approximately 87 per cent of Spurs
Harry Redknapp coached Spurs from October 2008 until 2012 and has pleasant memories of Levy. Meanwhile, he has stated Joe was the “main man” behind Tottenham at the time.
Talking to talkSPORT on Friday, 5 September, he said: “I had no problems with him at all. I found him very good to work for. He wasn’t at the training ground every day; he wasn’t poking his nose in as to who should play, who shouldn’t play. I found him very good and helpful to work with.
“I honestly think that in the background Joe would be pulling a lot of the strings, that was how I’ve always felt, and certainly when I left the club I think it was probably more Joe Lewis’ decision than it was Daniel Levy’s. Joe was the main man behind that club, believe you and me.”
This brings into question whether the dismissal of Levy will change things at the North London club. Unless, of course, Lewis has had a change of heart about the direction of Tottenham.

Tottenham could’ve been planning to dismiss Daniel Levy for months
There has been a lot of talk about how the recent summer transfer window is one of, if not the best, that Tottenham have had under Levy.
But the reason behind this could be that the former Tottenham chairman was not the man pulling the strings. Spurs CEO Vinai Venkatesham was praised for some noticeable changes to Tottenham during the UEFA Europa League, and that no doubt played a huge role in their summer recruitment.
Kolo Randal Muani’s loan spell at Tottenham and the permanent signing of Xavi Simons seem to be excellent business from Spurs – but it doesn’t quite match what fans have seen from Levy in the past.
As a result, the decision for Levy to step down from his position could have been formulated months ago.
