Harry Redknapp drops big Tottenham admission – ‘I’ve got to be honest’
Tottenham have been focused all week on an opportunity to secure three Premier League wins on the bounce when they take on Ipswich Town this weekend.
Spurs head east to Portman Road on Saturday (22 February) in an attempt to salvage a positive run of results from a dreadful league campaign thus far.
Ange Postecoglou’s side can also avenge the win Ipswich snatched from North London earlier this season, the Tractor Boys’ first victory back in the Premier League following promotion.

Redknapp gives prediction for Ipswich trip
Tottenham fans will fondly remember the years of Harry Redknapp who oversaw proceedings at White Hart Lane between 2008 and 2012, elevating Spurs into Champions League stardom.
The former Lilywhites boss maintains a close eye on results, and has delivered his prediction for the visit to East Anglia this weekend with BetVictor Casino.
Redknapp, 77, believes Spurs will “have too much” for Kieran McKenna’s side on the day, while making an honest admission about the win over Manchester United (16 February) and crediting Ipswich’s tenacity in earning a draw with 10 men away at Aston Villa (15 February).
He also identified one particular performer in Postecoglou’s squad who he claims has been Tottenham’s vastly superior player this season.
“What a fantastic point that was for Ipswich away at Aston Villa. Let’s face it, I don’t think many gave them much of a chance before the game, let alone with 10 men! That shows they’ve still got belief and are still up for the fight of staying up,” the ex-Spurs manager said.
“Tottenham got a vital win over Manchester United, but I’ve got to be honest, it was hardly a classic. At this stage, wins are all that matter for Spurs but they’re a long way off those European positions.
“I think Spurs will just have too much, but Ipswich will give them a real game here. Ipswich 1-2 Tottenham. I think Dejan Kulusevski has been Spurs’ best player this season by a country mile. Most of the good things they do come through him.”
Tottenham goal contributions 2024-25 (all comps) | Goals | Assists | Total |
Dejan Kulusevski | 9 | 10 | 19 |
Son Heung-min | 10 | 8 | 18 |
Dominic Solanke | 11 | 6 | 17 |
James Maddison | 10 | 6 | 16 |
Brennan Johnson | 12 | 3 | 15 |
Tottenham have slight mojo back ahead of Ipswich
Given that Tottenham recently secured back-to-back Premier League wins for just the second time this season last weekend, they will at least carry a degree of confidence more than previously.
On the other hand, Ipswich will believe in themselves to claw their way out of relegation danger after an admirable display at Villa during which on another day, they could have held on to win.
McKenna’s men will look to make it difficult for Spurs, and look an evolved outfit from the one which entered the top flight after so long like a rabbit in headlights, with just one win from their first 15 attempts. Of course, that arrived at the 11th time of asking, in November, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which heaped pressure on Postecoglou.
The manager will never cower from defending the style of his side, who are now beginning to welcome back vital cogs in his machine after lengthy injury lay-offs.
Should the under-pressure Lilywhites boss execute the gameplan as honed this week, Redknapp should be spot on and Tottenham will have too much for Ipswich.
