Harry Kane delighted as shock Bayern Munich to Tottenham transfer finalised

Harry Kane is over the moon for Bayern Munich teammate Mathys Tel after he completed a shock loan move to Tottenham.

The Frenchman initially turned down a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium [Fabrizio Romano] but completed a dramatic U-turn on Deadline Day (3 February) to become the latest Lilywhite.

Now, ex-Spurs captain Kane has expressed his delight in the move, in comments relayed by Hotspur Related on X (4 February), and believes the deal makes perfect sense for club and player.

He said: “It is a great move for both parties. Mathys is a great guy and very hardworking. It is important for him to get regular game time and keep improving to fulfil his potential. It is great for Tottenham to have a young hungry player with loads of talent.

“Hopefully he scores goals and helps push Tottenham as far as possible. I wish him all the best. Hopefully he has a fantastic time there. I know he will. I am sure the fans will make him feel really welcomed at the club.”

Harry Kane backs Mathys Tel to become a success at Tottenham

The 31-year-old is, and always will be, a beloved figure at Tottenham and even across the North Sea, Kane is exerting his influence to benefit his former employers.

As Bryan King told Tottenham News on 30 January, Kane played a significant role in helping the deal through – King expects his influence to extend beyond the initial agreement – the forward will be a shoulder to lean on for Tel.

From one goalscorer to another, there is hardly anyone more suited in world football to help Tel make an instant impact in the Premier League.

And considering Daniel Levy took a battering throughout the winter transfer window – with Randal Kolo Muani, Fikayo Tomori, Axel Disasi, and initially Tel all rejecting his advances – the Spurs chairman needed all the help he could get.

Nevertheless, the Deadline Day signing has undoubtedly lifted the mood in North London and with the loan deal holding a potential purchase option for £45.7million [David Ornstein], this is one of the best deals Levy has struck in years.

Ange Postecoglou still has many problems on his plate at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with several regular starters on the treatment table, but now he has the firepower he desperately cried out for to launch an assault up the Premier League table.
