Guglielmo Vicario sends heartfelt message to Tottenham fans after win vs Villarreal
Tottenham enjoyed the perfect result on their return to the Champions League by defeating Villarreal 1-0 on Tuesday.
However, it was a less-than-straightforward evening for Thomas Frank’s side, who failed to deliver much in the way of quality.
Micky Van de Ven almost conceded a penalty against Villarreal, but got away with a yellow card and a free kick, much to the dismay of many.
The most important thing was the three points, and Guglielmo Viacrio sent a message to fans after the victory.

Guglielmo Viacrio buzzing after Tottenham victory
Tottenham fans have delivered mixed verdicts on Viacrio’s performances so far this season despite three wins from four.
The Italian was criticised for his performance against Man City, with his passing, catching, and ability on the ball coming into question.
However, the 28-year-old was praised for his display in the defeat to Bournemouth, with Michael Dawson saying he made two unbelievable saves.
Against Villarreal, the shotstopper had little to do as Nicolas Pepe spurned a series of shots wide of the target.

- Vicario made one punch
- He completed 85 per cent of his passes
After having little to do, the Italy international shared a positive message with his own supporters on the North London club’s X account.
“Hello, guys, another clean sheet. I’m very happy. Big, massive start to this Champions League campaign,” he said on 17 September.
“Let’s keep this going together, and come on, you Spurs, let’s go.”

Guglielmo Vicario set for crucial season at Spurs
During his first season in North London, Vicario showed signs that he could be the number one for the long term.
However, the 2024/25 campaign followed a different narrative, with his nervousness from crosses coming to the fore.
On the other hand, the Lilywhites looked far worse without the 28-year-old between the sticks, with Fraser Forster and Antonin Kinsky not up to standard.
Under Frank, Spurs have already shown signs that they have learned from last season and have more quality in attacking areas.
Vicario was called into question by several quarters over the summer, with many stating that he is not up to wearing the number one shirt.
With that in mind, the Italian is under pressure to deliver more consistent performances and show that he is capable of dealing with crosses.
If he is unable to do so, then the Lilywhites may decide that it is time to find an upgrade.
