Graham Roberts explodes at journalist over Tottenham fan footage – ‘Stop moaning’

Graham Roberts has been left raging after footage of Tottenham fans emerged after the Europa League final win.

Spurs fans got the night they’ve been waiting for, for over 17 years, as a win over Manchester United saw Son Heung-min lift the trophy in Bilbao.

Brennan Johnson’s goal was enough to fulfil Ange Postecoglou’s prophecy and send Lilywhites fans all over the world crazy.

This was no different in North London as Roberts was left to defend supporters after direct criticism was aimed after footage emerged in N17.

Roberts rages at Ian Abrahams after Tottenham v Manchester United

There were pure limbs in the stands of the San Mames on 21 May as the Wales international got the better of Andre Onana late in the first half.

This ultimately secured the title and sparked wild reactions from supporters who could celebrate like they hadn’t since 2008.

Although many fans couldn’t be in Spain for the final, Spurs allowed fans into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to watch the game on big screens.

After the full-time whistle, fans stormed the pitch in celebration as flares were lit and the big screens were climbed.

It is fair to say that this didn’t go down well with journalist Abrahams, also known as The Moose, as he took to X on 21 May.

In tongue-in-cheek fashion, he said: “And now we have that time-honoured tradition, climb up high on top of the big screens.”

Former Tottenham and England man Roberts instantly sprang to the defence of the Spurs supporters after months of negative press.

He replied: “Stop moaning, you pundits slag us off and then when we win you slag our fans off. We don’t care what you lot think, your team ain’t great, we won the cup. Coys.”

Despite the broadcaster’s efforts to tell the ex-defender to “calm down” and that his comment was “banter”, Roberts clapped back with “That’s not banter.”

Roberts right to defend Tottenham fans v Manchester United

A clash against Brighton in the Premier League is coming up in just three days, which saw the stadium announcer demand that fans get off the pitch.

With that being said, the celebrations were never going to be subdued after so many years of constant trolling from rival supporters.

As a result, Abrahams mocking fans for their celebration does seem strange and did elicit a reaction from Roberts at full-time.

No one can take the Europa League title away from Spurs and Postecoglou as fans await a return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 25 May.
