Gary Neville shares new Tottenham takeover rumours he has heard behind the scenes
Tottenham were right to protest the ownership of Daniel Levy before the win over Manchester United after rumours emerged, Gary Neville has said.
Spurs supporters vented their frustrations with the public face of the ownership at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday.
Fans received a major boost after interest from Qatar surfaced earlier in the week but it was revealed they may like Daniel Levy to stay on in a crushing Tottenham blow to those demanding that he leave.
The chaos surrounding the N17 club has divided the fanbase with clashes during the protest being shared on social media.
Gary Neville shares Daniel Levy and Tottenham updates
The former Manchester United star sympathised with supporters when asked about the protests.
He urged Levy to focus on the business side of the football club and leave the sporting matters to the experts after what he had heard about a takeover recently.
Speaking live on Sky Sports (16 February, 19:07), Neville said: “Of course, they have got a point, I think that the rumours are that Tottenham are looking behind the scenes, it’s not a public sale.
“It will be a big price but it would be the right time probably in some ways, I think what he has done here in building this stadium, getting the training ground right, the problem with him is he has not been able to detach the football side from himself.
“So, that ultimately he just runs the business side because he’s obviously very good at that, he’s got to look after Tottenham and their long-term future but he’s also got to bring in experts in the football department and he always seems to interfere in that and be oppressive in the way in which he deals with that side of it.”

Daniel Levy tensions show no sign of ending at Tottenham
The protests are just the latest sign of unrest amongst Lilywhites supporters as Levy’s focus on the commercial side of things continues to frustrate fans.
It is all well and good to ensure the financial security of the club and build a new stadium but supporters want success, Spurs’ last trophy was the League Cup in 2008 and they have been knocked out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
If he continues to interfere in the football side of things then he will further divide the fanbase and some will start to boycott matches.
Sacking Ange Postecoglou is not a silver bullet as the problems at the London club run deeper than the football on the pitch.
The first step to restoring the fans’ faith in the club would be leaving football people in charge of football decisions, if Levy can stomach that then he may have a chance to salvage his relationship with supporters.
However, if he fails to do so, further chaos will follow, the fanbase will completely turn on him and the ENIC group as a whole and Spurs’ chances of winning anything will go up in flames.
