Gary Neville makes ‘stupid’ admission in Tottenham prediction v Everton
Gary Neville has backed Everton to beat Tottenham as the pair face each other in Premier League action.
The Lilywhites travel to Goodison Park on Sunday (19 January) as Ange Postecoglou seeks a result to take some pressure off his future in North London.
Spurs were on the wrong end of a 2-1 result in the North London derby, which has left many questioning if time is up for the Australian.
Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast (16 January, 55:32) Neville admitted he could see the Toffees winning as he said: “I think Everton could win it. It’ll be one of those stupid Everton games and they’ll win it.”
Ange Postecoglou needs a Tottenham victory
While supporters were disappointed to see their side lose against Arsenal on Wednesday (15 January), it was the fashion of the defeat that created a sour taste as much as the result.
Postecoglou came out after the game and criticised his players for failing to perform to the levels that are expected of his side.
However, there are questions about the boss speculating whether the players are struggling to perform because they are not feeling confident playing under the Australian, in which case it could mean the end is near.

The Toffees are struggling this term and sit just one point above the relegation zone meaning David Moyes will be desperate to get a first victory upon his return to Goodison Park.
However, if Spurs lose against a side struggling more than them as suggested by Neville, it could well lead Daniel Levy to terminate the manager’s time in North London.
In other Tottenham news, James Maddison could demand an exit from the club after being left out against the Gunners.
