Gary Lineker reacts to ‘Crazy’ Tottenham controversy he has seen
Gary Lineker has blasted Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr for the manner in which they conceded penalties as Tottenham lost 4-3 to Chelsea at home on Sunday.
Cole Palmer bagged a brace from penalties on 8 December after Bissouma wiped out Moises Caicedo, who was lucky to avoid a red card however, in the box in the first instance and Sarr tumbled the scorer down to the floor in the second.
Lineker is of the view that the midfield duo is responsible for putting Ange Postecoglou under pressure in North London.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast [9 December], the pundit said: “The penalties that they gave away were just daft. You know, really bad decision-making, lunging in and almost in a panic situation.
“So, I don’t know, I suppose Ange must be under pressure now. You never know how a club actually feels about the coach, but it’s generally the coach that gets the blame for these things.”
Lineker added that some Spurs players were guilty of making “crazy” decisions against Chelsea before singling out Sarr for criticism.
He said: “He [Postecoglou] was not helped by some crazy decisions yesterday. The second penalty that they gave away, Sarr – what on earth was he thinking there?
“He just ran straight into the back of him, there was no danger, he was going out of the box. If you do things like that, you’re going to suffer.”

The game against the Blues highlighted Tottenham’s major problems as they gave away a two-goal lead in front of their own fans.
Having won only one of their last five Premier League games, Spurs find themselves placed 11th in the table, sitting seven points fourth-placed Manchester City.
Postecoglou is, therefore, under increasing pressure, particularly after he was booed by a section of the supporters following the 1-0 loss to Bournemouth on Thursday [5 December].
However, the Greek-Australian tactician maintains support from teh Tottenham hierarchy, according to The Telegraph [9 December], with no knee-jerk reactions planned.
In fact, the 59-year-old has held meetings with technical director Johan Lange to discuss plans for the January transfer window.

With the window opening in four weeks, Postecoglou is seemingly eye reinforcements to his squad as he looks to find consistency.
The North London giants, meanwhile, will look to return to winning ways when they visit Ibrox to face Rangers in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday [12 December].
In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy has dodged a bullet at Spurs after this target snubbed a move to North London ahead of January.
