Gary Lineker makes bold prediction for Tottenham vs Man City

Tottenham will be looking to follow up their emphatic win over Burnley when they face Man City this weekend.

Spurs dismantled Scott Parker’s side 4-0 on home soil, thanks to two stunning strikes from Richarlison.

However, Man City represent a tough task for Thomas Frank after their impressive thrashing of Wolves on the opening day.

Now, former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker has had his say on what he thinks will happen at the Etihad Stadium.

Gary Lineker predicts Tottenham vs Man City result

Lineker may have already spoken about Spurs’ transfer activity this summer, but now he has weighed in on their results.

There is a good feel around the Lilywhites on the pitch after an encouraging performance against PSG, followed by a resounding win over the Clarets.

Next up is a visit to the Etihad Stadium, but the North Londoners have a solid recent record against Pep Guardiola’s team.

Man City looked like a team reborn in their Premier League opener, with new signing Tijani Reijnders drawing plaudits.

Furthermore, Erling Haaland was back to his devastating best as Guardiola strives for another domestic title.

“Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, this is a bit heart and head, isn’t it?” Lineker said via the Premier League’s Instagram on 21 August.

“I’d love to see Tottenham get three points there, but I think it unlikely, but I can’t let my head take over completely, so I’m going to go 2-2.”

Spurs can spring a surprise against Man City

While City will certainly head in as favourites, Tottenham can take a lot from their recent games.

Against PSG, they were the better side for large periods, and it was the closing stages of the game that killed them.

Performances have been so much better, and the Lilywhites look like a team reborn under Frank.

Furthermore, the North London club possess something of a psychological edge over their opponents.

In what should be an entertaining game, Lineker’s prediction of goals should come to fruition.
