Fabrizio Romano reveals Eberechi Eze transfer conditions for Tottenham deal
Tottenham Hotspur face a difficult task if they’re to secure the signature of Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer.
Eze has long since been a target for Tottenham as his stock has risen across the seasons for Palace, but neither the Lilywhites nor any other time have been able to pry him out of Selhurst Park thus far.
The 26-year-old, who has nine caps for England and was selected at Euro 2024 ahead of Spurs’ James Maddison, is valued at £60million by Crystal Palace, a club known for striking the hardest of bargains.
Ahead of another summer transfer window, Eze’s services are likely to be in high demand once again, and with Tottenham keen to strengthen in the final third, expect their interest to peak further.

Tottenham hit with ‘difficult’ Eberechi Eze release clause update
Though Tottenham certainly have the finances to pay the current price tag for Eze at Selhurst Park, bartering Palace down to a transfer valuation that both clubs are happy with will prove a stumbling block.
Season | Appearances | Starts | Goals | Assists |
2020-21 | 36 | 31 | 4 | 6 |
2021-22 | 17 | 10 | 1 | 1 |
2022-23 | 38 | 28 | 10 | 4 |
2023-24 | 31 | 26 | 11 | 6 |
2024-25 | 29 | 27 | 6 | 7 |
Added to this is Eze’s complicated release clause with the Eagles, and Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported for GiveMeSport on 4 March that Spurs will struggle to pay that £60m fee in one fell swoop.
Romano said: “He’s on Spurs’ list since 2023, he’s always been highly rated at the club.
“But the release clause is very expensive, and the payment for the clause is not allowed in three to four years as usually happens, so that’s what makes the deal difficult – and there are more clubs also keen.”

Eberechi Eze transfer battle set to go down to the wire
Tottenham being far from the only club interested in signing Eze this summer will play right into Palace’s hands as they do all they can to either keep their talisman – or earn as much as possible by selling him.
Eze‘s release clause being £60m is certainly payable for the Premier League’s most monied clubs, but paying such a figure up front, in an age of transfer amortisation, is a big ask for any owner to sanction.
As a result, Spurs may look to either move onto other targets or sanction sales in an effort to commit to a £60m outlay not spread out over the length of a contract, with a summer of change expected.
It remains to be seen if Daniel Levy is willing to commit to such a fee for a player already in his prime years, but if Spurs were to land Eze, they’d be the envy of almost every other Premier League club.
