Fabrizio Romano: Quiet January transfer window expected for Tottenham despite current crisis
Tottenham are not expected to spend big in January despite Ange Postecoglou’s squad being ravaged by injury and suspension issues lately, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his Daily Briefing on Tuesday (14 November), Romano reported that despite Postecoglou’s options being decimated in the last couple of weeks, he knows that the bulk of his options will be back in action before the January transfer window opens.
According to Premier Injuries, Spurs currently have 10 players injured with James Maddison and Micky van de Ven among them. Destiny Udogie was also suspended for the loss at Wolves at the weekend and Cristian Romero is banned for another two league fixtures for his red card against Chelsea.

Spurs aren’t panicking, however, and Romano doubts that the January transfer window will be an expensive one for Daniel Levy.
Romano said: “On Spurs, we know they have some injuries in defence at the moment, but they are not desperate to sign cover. It will depend on opportunities. They’ve been unlucky because they’ve had a lot of injuries at the same time, but I’m told they won’t panic because they know most of these players will be back at the end of December, so they’ll assess the situation then.
“Overall, I don’t see Tottenham spending crazy money in January, that’s not the plan at the moment. They’re happy with the balance in the squad right now, but of course the recovery process of some key players will be important, so perhaps they could look for opportunities towards the end of the January window.”

Ex-Spurs right-back Alan Hutton told Tottenham News:
“This is the question mark, everyone has been waiting for this moment,” he said.
“Tottenham have had a great start to the season, they had not been beaten and the bubble was going to burst at some point – but I remember people saying this about Leicester not too long ago and they went on to win the league.
“I always had the thought that it depends on what they do in January.
“This is unfortunate with the injuries and suspensions all coming in the one game, which you would never be expecting, but it is a bump in the road. It’s how do you deal with it?
“If anyone is going to deal with it and front it up, it’s going to be Ange Postecoglou.
“I love the way he speaks, he’s very open and honest, and I’m sure he’s analysed his full squad.
“He trusts players to come in there and do a job until his star players come back or the person comes in and does the job and he stays in.”
In other Tottenham news, John Wenham believes Spurs’ fringe players missed a big opportunity at Molineux.
