Fabrizio Romano: David Raya accepts Tottenham contract offer, talks still in process with Brentford
Tottenham remain locked in talks with Brentford over a transfer fee for goalkeeper David Raya, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday (14 June), Romano reported that the 27-year-old Spain international has accepted “all details” of Tottenham’s contract offer.
However, it is understood that the Bees want £40million for their number one and Spurs are in discussions about reducing that price.

Bye-bye, Hugo
Signing Raya from Brentford would no doubt signal the end of Hugo Lloris at Tottenham.
Lloris, 36, will be out of contract at the end of next season and The Telegraph reported on 15 May that the Frenchman is expected to leave North London with an offer from Saudi Arabia already being made.
It is understood that he has the chance to triple his Spurs wages if he agrees to that offer.
Lloris’ last couple of years at Tottenham have been littered with mistakes but there’s no doubt that the former Lyon shot-stopper will be looked back upon favourably by fans who’ve seen him be a stalwart of one of their best sides in decades.

However, it’s definitely time to move on and Raya, who kept 12 clean sheets in 38 Premier League appearances last season, is a solid replacement.
Thomas Frank has already admitted that Raya is up for sale this summer for £40million [Sky Sports], a valuation that seems fair given the fact the Spaniard did so well in 2022/23.
As per Sky Sports, he faced the most shots, made the most saves, made the most touches and completed the most long-range passes out of all other Premier League goalkeepers.

Spurs have the capability to play it out from the back due to the ball-playing defenders they currently have in their squad. Tottenham could also add to that area with 90min reporting on 6 June that Manchester United’s Harry Maguire and Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte – both ball-playing centre-backs – are targets for new manager Ange Postecoglou.
Raya’s ability with the ball at his feet could mean he’ll slot in seamlessly and also, potentially, make fewer mistakes that lead to goals than Lloris did.
In other Tottenham news, Celtic’s Reo Hatate is now a target for Postecoglou and signing him would make a lot of sense.
