Ex-Tottenham star Dele Alli lines up shock return as retirement news rubbished
Dele Alli will leave Como this summer after making just one appearance for the Serie A side.
The midfielder was signed on a free transfer in January after leaving Everton at the end of the 2023/24 season, but was sent off just ten minutes into his debut.
Dele would fail to make another appearance for Como following the red card, and is now set to leave the Italian club for a new opportunity.
Dele looking for England return
Dele was once among the most exciting talents in English football. The midfielder joined Tottenham in 2015, following a superb season in League One for MK Dons.
And the Englishman instantly struck form in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists in his first season.
The most impressive moment would come against Crystal Palace, when Dele received the ball and flicked it back over his head before volleying into the bottom corner.
His following season is still recognised among the best seasons ever seen from a Premier League midfielder, despite Dele being just 20 years old.
The talent would score 18 goals and provide nine assists, also contributing in the Champions League and the FA Cup.
The season would also see Dele make his debut for England, as the country became convinced that the midfielder would lead the charge for the nation’s footballing future.

But following a positive 2019/20 season, things started to fall apart for the midfielder, with injuries and periods of poor form limiting his time on the pitch.
Alli would leave Tottenham in 2022, and later revealed the impact of mental health on his career in a 2023 interview.
Reports from Italy have suggested the Englishman is considering retirement, but such rumours are inaccurate, according to The Telegraph (3 August).
Instead, Dele is considering his next move after being told that he does not feature in Cesc Fabregas’ plans, with a potential return to England among his options.
Dele deserves a fresh start
It is hard to imagine the weight of the pressure Dele played under when he made his Premier League breakthrough.
The footballing world demanded his continual rise, and those expectations undoubtedly came at a cost.
However, this summer can present a fresh start for Dele , and a chance to enjoy his time on the pitch again.
