Ex-Spurs Scout: ‘Last chance saloon’ for Richarlison at Tottenham amid latest injury update
Tottenham News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent six years as a senior scout at Spurs and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent eight years on Everton’s recruitment team and 11 years scouting at Aston Villa across two different spells.
Ex-Spurs scout Bryan King believes it is now “last chance saloon” for Richarlison at Tottenham ahead of the January transfer window opening.
Richarlison has struggled in north London ever since his switch from Everton in the summer of 2022, netting just five goals in 46 appearances for Tottenham.
He suffered yet another setback in recent weeks when it was announced he was set to have surgery on a pelvic issue that would keep him sidelined for an extended period of time.
Postecoglou has now provided an update on the striker’s fitness while speaking via Spurs’ official X platform (1 December).
“Richy’s probably the closest out of the ones who have been missing, so looking to get him involved in training hopefully tomorrow and then we’ll see how he is as he’s obviously missed a fair bit,” Postecoglou said.
“He’s done his rehab really well and he feels good which is important. He’s sort of the next cab off the ranks in terms of the injured guys.”

While speaking to Tottenham News, King detailed how Richarlison must now make the most of this latest opportunity in a Spurs shirt, with the club’s long injury list likely to offer him a run in the side.
“He needs to make an impact now if he even does get picked, although, with the way injuries are going at the club at the moment, it looks like he will get picked,” he said.
“I have never been a big fan of his, even when he was at Everton. He is an individual player who struggles to be part of a team, I would be interested to know who his friends are at Spurs because he didn’t have many at Everton I can tell you that.

“It would be much better if it was James Maddison coming back in a couple of weeks, not Richarlison. This is certainly last chance saloon for him.
“He seems like the type of player who would relish a move to Saudi Arabia, and from what I have heard it seems like clubs in Saudi Arabia are after him, they do love a Brazillian, so we will see.”
In other Tottenham news, one Spurs expert has been left gutted after a “huge blow” for the club’s academy.
