Every Tottenham match James Maddison will miss as injury timeline revealed
Tottenham’s summer preparations have been marred by a serious injury to James Maddison in the last few days.
The midfielder was stretchered off in the clash against Newcastle in South Korea on Sunday (3 August), and there have been plenty of concerns that he could be looking at another lengthy period on the sidelines.
Maddison’s latest issue has led to suggestions that Spurs may have a decision to make regarding his future when he does eventually return to full fitness.
The full extent of the Englishman’s latest injury has now been revealed, and it is not good news for Thomas Frank.

Maddison could miss up to x games for Tottenham
Maddison has already missed a significant number of games for Tottenham since his move from Leicester City two years ago.
The 28-year-old is a key player for the Lilywhites, but he has physically struggled to withstand the rigours of the Premier League at times.
It has now been confirmed that his latest injury is an ACL problem, and he will be facing a period of at least six or seven months on the sidelines, according to Fabrizio Romano via X (7 August).
If Maddison does end up being absent for the longer end of that timeframe, and he misses exactly seven months of action starting from today, then he will be unavailable for the first 29 games of Spurs’ Premier League campaign.
Competition | Games |
Premier League | 29 |
Champions League | 10 |
FA Cup | 2 |
Carabao Cup | 5 |
UEFA Super Cup | 1 |
Total | 47 |
He would also miss all eight of their Champions League league phase games, and would be absent for both legs of any potential knockout phase play-off encounter.
The midfielder could also miss as many as five outings in the Carabao Cup, as well as two in the FA Cup.
Throw in next week’s UEFA Super Cup tie against PSG, and Maddison could miss up to 47 games for Tottenham in all competitions, if he is out for exactly seven months.
Maddison’s injury will be very frustrating for Frank
Maddison’s absence will be a huge blow for Spurs, as he would surely have been one of their key players once again.
The loss of his creativity could have a particularly big impact on Frank, who would have been desperate to lean on his better players in the early stages of his reign in order to achieve the strong start that he desires.
Instead, the Dane will now be left to work alongside Daniel Levy to ensure that a capable replacement can be sourced before the end of the transfer window.
