Eric Dier has ‘many questions’ for Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham exit

Eric Dier admits Ange Postecoglu didn’t like him but enjoyed working under him at Tottenham Hotspur.

After nearly ten years at Spurs, Dier made the loan move to Bayern Munich in January after a lack of minutes this campaign.

Now in an interview with Jack Pitt-Brooke for The Athletic, the versatile Englishman has lifted the lid on the end of his time in North London.

Discussing his relationship with Postecoglou, Dier said: “I didn’t take it personally, him not playing me. If he doesn’t like me, it’s not a problem for me. Lots of people won’t like me, lots of people like me, it’s irrelevant.”

Despite feeling that the Australian isn’t a fan of his, the Bayern man has opened up about his desire to have a conversation with his former manager.

On that, he said: “I try to look at it through my own point of view: do I like the manager, for who he is as a person, and the way he is as a coach? It doesn’t matter to me if I’m playing or not. And I really, really enjoyed working under him, and I learned a hell of a lot. I’d love to sit down and talk to him now.

“I have so many questions about the way he does certain things and why he does them. Hopefully, one day, I’ll be able to.”

Does Eric Dier have a future at Tottenham?

Given that Dier is only on loan from Spurs right now, these comments do seem to spell the end of any future at the club.

In the Premier League this campaign he only played four times with only one of those being a start. This equated to just 199 minutes over the course of the first half of the season [FotMob].

Since making the move to Bavaria to play under Thomas Tuchel, he has already made 11 appearances in midfield and defence.

His departure paved the way for Postecoglou to bring in Radu Dragusin who has had mixed reviews in his opening appearances for the club.

Although he may not be exactly what the Tottenham boss is after, there is no doubt that Dier brings plenty of experience to the table.

On top of this, he is comfortable playing as a centre-back and in defensive midfield which could be useful versatility.

Whether Dier himself would be happy with returning to a lack of minutes is yet to be seen but it appears the relationship is soured.
