Don Hutchison tells Tottenham fans what to expect from Igor Tudor after years of Serie A commentating

Don Hutchinson has mixed feelings about Tottenham appointing former Juventus boss Igor Tudor.

Spurs have welcomed the Croatian to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just days after Joe Lewis pulled the trigger on Thomas Frank.

The Lilywhites wanted to hire a new head coach on an interim basis until the end of the season, before deciding on a permanent appointment in the summer.

Tudor has been named as the man to be Tottenham‘s stopgap on Saturday, as the former Juventus head coach came out of nowhere to become the leading contender for the job until the end of the campaign.

However, after watching Tudor’s Juve in Italy on many occasions, Hutchinson isn’t overly impressed with ENIC’s next move.

Don Hutchinson says Igor Tudor will keep Tottenham up, but shares key worry

Tudor joined Juventus from the back end of March last year and was then sacked just over seven months later in October. He has faced heavy criticism for his playstyle with the Italian giants.

Tottenham fans have been led to believe it could be a risky hire as a result of this, and further a further review from Serie A expert Hutchinson.

While commenting on X following news of Tudor to Tottenham, Hutchinson explained why there should be concerns about the appointment of the Croatian.

Hutchinson said: “I’ve been co-commentating on Italian football for years now. Tudor will keep Spurs up, not because he is a top manager, but they would have stayed up anyway.

“Tudor’s Juve side was all over the place with no real structure/ identity. This is very, very left field from Spurs.”

Given Spurs fans have already seen a lack of identity and structure this season, it’s not what they’ll want to hear in a time where inspiration is hard to come by.

How can Tudor keep Tottenham in the Premier League?

Hutchinson claims that Tudor will keep Tottenham in the Premier League, but not because of his qualities as a coach, more so due to the players that he will have at his disposal.

The Lilywhites are currently 16th in the table and are just five points of the relegation zone following the sacking of Frank.

But Tudor will only be able to use the players that Frank had, which brings the Lilywhites back to square one, if what’s being said about his tactics is true.

The only hope Spurs may have is if James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski return to fitness as soon as possible. But that seems like wishful thinking at the moment.

Fresh ideas could be key, and a new manager bounce could be beneficial for Tottenham, even if Tudor’s tactics are found out sooner rather than later.
