Dominic Solanke and Tottenham stars react to Djed Spence’s England debut

Djed Spence has had a brilliant start to the season for Tottenham.

Spence received his first call-up for England this international break, having impressed for Spurs so far this campaign.

The full-back came off the bench in the Three Lions’ 5-0 win over Serbia and made history while doing so.

The 25-year-old became the first Muslim to feature for England after playing 21 minutes in Belgrade on Tuesday night.

Spence has had a tough period at Spurs in the past, but he seems to have really turned a corner and is now a key part of Thomas Frank’s side.

Tottenham stars give their verdict on Djed Spence England debut

Harry Kane mentioned Spence in his post-match speech in the dressing room after the England win in Serbia.

The former Tottenham captain was full of praise for the full-back upon his debut, and he wasn’t the only one.

Spence took to Instagram to celebrate his international debut, posting a photo of himself in the Three Lions jersey after the match.

He said: “Today arguably the Greatest and Proudest day of my life ♥️🦁Honoured to make my England debut🦁A day I’ve dreamt of all my life & now has become a reality🤲🏾 GOD IS THE GREATEST !” #GODSPEED

Dominic Solanke was one of the Spurs players to comment on the post, saying: “Congrats my boy!🤍”

Pedro Porro also reacted to the post, offering his congratulations to his fellow full-back with a reply of: “😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍”

Micky van de Ven was another Spurs defender to leave a comment on Spence’s post, reacting with the “😍” emoji.

Djed Spence has worked hard for Three Lions call-up

Spence received a lot of criticism early on in his Tottenham career, but has worked hard to prove the doubters wrong and earn his first international cap.

It hasn’t always been the easiest path for Spence since joining Spurs from Middlesbrough, with loan spells and a lack of game time.

Since last campaign, Spence has been a key part of the Tottenham defence and was part of the Europa League-winning side.

If the 25-year-old can continue his recent form, he will certainly be in line for a call-up to England’s World Cup squad next summer.
