Djed Spence sends intimidating message to Jeremy Doku after Tottenham v Man City
Djed Spence was clearly unhappy with how things panned out as Manchester City claimed a 1-0 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Ange Postecoglou’s side were denied a fourth consecutive Premier League win by Manchester City on Wednesday (26 February).
Erling Haaland scored the only goal of the game after 12 minutes, with Kevin Danso largely at fault.
Spence was rested alongside Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski, with Pedro Porro, Wilson Odobert and James Maddison their replacements.
However, the defender, who was introduced in the 67th minute, clearly feels as though Jeremy Doku wouldn’t have had things all his own way had he started the match.

Spence sends message to Doku after Man City win v Tottenham
Doku was electric in North London, with the Belgian named Player of the Match after causing Destiny Udogie and Porro all sorts of problems.
After the match, the winger posted a series of photos to his official Instagram account (26 February), captioning the post, “Important three points secured and coming back to Manchester! Let’s keep it pushing Man City. Glory to God always.”
Among the comments was Spence, who wrote, “We’ll meet next time…”.
It is a rather intimidating message, and one which suggests that Spence feels as though he might have been able to keep Doku quiet. As a result, this reflects the player’s confidence at this moment in time.

After starting the season on the periphery of the Spurs squad, the 24-year-old is now arguably one of Postecoglou’s most important players.
Spence will be key for Tottenham in the UEFA Europa League
Spurs fans will no doubt be frustrated by yet another Premier League defeat. However, in the context of the season, this loss means very little.
Postecoglou’s full focus will now be on the UEFA Europa League. This was evidenced by the fact that Spence, Son and Kulusevski were all rested on Wednesday.
It looks very unlikely that Tottenham will finish anywhere near the top five in the Premier League. Therefore, it appears as though their only route into next season’s UEFA Champions League is by winning the Europa League.
This would also see the club end their much discussed trophy drought.

As a result, Spence shouldn’t be too bothered about starting on the bench against City, as he is going to need to save all of his energy for the first leg of Spurs’ Round of 16 clash with AZ Alkmaar.
