Destiny Udogie: Tottenham squad trusts Ange Postecoglou
Destiny Udogie is a big fan of the way he’s learning a new ability under Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
Udogie, 20, has started every Premier League game this term after returning from a season-long loan spell at Udinese in the summer.
The Italy Under-21s left-back is impressing in North London and he believes that Postecoglou has played a major role in that for teaching him new skills and also winning over the trust of the squad after a tumultuous 2022/23 campaign.

“Ange and his staff work really well together,” said Udogie, as quoted by Football London on Thursday (5 October).
“We trust the manager, the way he makes us train and shows us how to play and how to stay calm under pressure.
“I think every manager teaches you something new and the gaffer is teaching me how to play inside more so I’m getting used to it and developing a lot.”
Ex-Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Tottenham News:
“I think that’s the biggest surprise [that he’s played so much],” said Robinson. “He was quite unknown and he’s come onto the scene.
“He’s had such a big impact since coming in the team. He’s been quality this year both defensively and offensively as well.
“It’s a difficult role for the Spurs full-backs because of the way that they play with [Dejan] Kulusevski in front of you, with [Brennan] Johnson in front of you with Richarlison or whoever it is, they’re going to be bombing on the other way, so they’ve got defensive responsibilities in behind them.
“At times, this leaves the fullbacks exposed, which again shows how well Udogie has done this year. He’s adapted to that role and I think he’s really been a pivotal part of that defence this season, in a position that Spurs have struggled with in recent times.

“The biggest compliment you can pay him is he’s keeping Ben Davies out the side.
“He’s taken his opportunity, that’s the biggest thing. He’s obviously been given a role by the manager.
“If your team’s not broken, your system is not broken, you don’t change the personnel of the system, which has been the case for Tottenham and he’s been a big part of that.
“I think going forward, he gives you that space, the overlap. Whether it’s Johnson or Richarlison, whoever it is he’s overlapping with. His delivery and I think his defensive solidity as well.
“He and [Micky] van de Ven have been the two that have gone under the radar this year for Tottenham, they’ve both been outstanding.”
In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou’s men kept their cool to come out on top in the controversial win over Liverpool.
