Destiny Udogie expected to be fit for Tottenham clash v Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park

Destiny Udogie is expected to be fit to play for Tottenham when they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Friday 27 October, according to the London Evening Standard.

The newspaper reported via their website on Wednesday (25 October) that Ange Postecoglou has played down any kind of long-term injury worry for the left-back, 20, after he was substituted off before the hour-mark in Monday night’s win over Fulham.

It is understood that despite being fatigued against Fulham, he’s expected to start at Palace this week, as well as Pape Matar Sarr after he was also forced off on Monday.

Udogie has started all nine of Spurs’ Premier League matches this season, helping keep four clean sheets and assisting two goals.

Former Spurs right-back Alan Hutton told Tottenham News:

“It was definitely a surprise [to see Udogie play as well as he has been],” Hutton said.

It’s been a problem area, the full-back situation for a number of seasons, but now they look very settled.

Udogie has come in. He is young and hungry, he is willing to improve and he has learned from the manager. He ticks all the boxes for a modern-day full-back and he can play a number of positions as well.

“If we were going to go for a three, he could play a little higher. He likes to get on the ball in the box.

These are things that Postecoglou likes, we’ve seen it at Celtic, how he likes his full-backs to play, and I think he can do everything that has been asked.”

In other Tottenham news, a former Spurs scout has rated Fulham players for their performance against the North London side on Monday.
