Dele Alli makes Tottenham ‘GOAT’ claim as stunning detail emerges

Dele Alli remains a popular figure at Tottenham despite leaving the club three years ago.

The midfielder’s seven-year stint with Spurs came to a disappointing end in January 2022, as he joined Everton on a free transfer.

Alli has since struggled to get his career back on track, with Cesc Fabregas’s Como offering him an escape in January this year.

However, that is not to say he is not remembered fondly in North London, especially since he was a part of one of the most successful Tottenham teams of the modern era.

Alli remains in touch with his former Tottenham teammates.

Alli blown away by Tottenham stat

Another player who earned cult hero status during his time at Tottenham is Mousa Dembele.

The Belgian was known for his deftness in possession, and there was perhaps no one better than him on the ball at one point in the Premier League.

In a testament to Dembele’s abilities, HotspurReports shared a nine-year-old stat about the midfielder not being tackled a single time between March and August 2016.

Alli was so blown away by the detail that he took to social media to express his admiration towards his former teammate.

“Damn, my GOAT”, Alli wrote on X (20 April).

Dembele earned cult hero status at Spurs

Unfortunately, Tottenham sold Dembele to Chinese club Guangzhou City in January 2019, just months before the UEFA Champions League defeat against Liverpool.

Nevertheless, the 37-year-old is remembered fondly by those at Spurs, just as Alli is.

The midfield duo were teammates at the North London club for four years between 2015 and 2019, playing 107 games together.

Although Alli and Dembele never combined to score a goal, there is no denying that they were two of the most important players for Tottenham during their time together.

At 29 years of age, Alli is still actively playing football, but the same is not true for Dembele, who hung up his boots after leaving Guangzhou in 2023.

It is a shame that neither player could win a trophy while at Spurs.
