Darren Bent shares if Ange Postecoglou could be sacked within days at Tottenham
Tottenham supporters are disappointed with where their side sits in the table, with 14th place in the Premier League understandably seen as underwhelming.
Their current form has led to questions over Ange Postecoglou‘s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the Lilywhites having lost four of their last five Premier League games.
However, with a Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday (6 February) to come, as well as an FA Cup tie and more Europa League football, some supporters feel the Australian deserves the time to prove himself.
How long has Ange Postecoglou got at Tottenham?
Inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, there is a general division between supporters, who feel their manager is to blame for their current status and those who believe the boss has done well despite a lack of support from Daniel Levy at the top, with the blame being put at the chairman’s door.
One thing is for certain, a trophy in North London this season would certainly ease some of the pressure at Tottenham this term.
Furthermore, given the manager has continuously mentioned his record of winning a trophy in his second season with a club, the expectation has been set.
With two cup games in the space of three days, it could be a big weekend for Postecoglou that dictates what happens in his immediate future.
Nevertheless, Darren Bent has backed Spurs to stand by the Australian regardless of the results that come ahead.
When asked by Andy Goldstein live on talkSPORT (6 February, 5:14pm) if going out of the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup would be the end for Postecoglou, Bent replied: “Nah, I still think with the Europa League there it won’t be the end of Ange. I just don’t.
“I think, even if they go out of the Europa League, I think maybe they still might look at it and go not quite yet.
“But it’s certainly for himself personally, I think it will be huge for him. He made that statement that was a fact when he says he always wins something in his second season, this is probably going to be the most challenging second season he’s ever had up until this point.
“But it’s going to be difficult, I just can’t see how they can go to Anfield and think they can contain them for 90 minutes and Liverpool will not score.”

Ange Postecoglou can’t afford to get knocked out of the cups
Given Spurs have been in very poor form of late, many have felt as though a loss in the Carabao Cup would be the end of Postecoglou’s time in charge with Tottenham.
However, Levy has allowed the signing of a number of players during the winter transfer window that have been directly impacted by the boss himself, suggesting that the chief sees him staying put.
That being said, the Australian has reinforced the message that he is expecting to win a trophy in his second season, which means if his side got knocked out of all their cup competitions, they would surely have underdelivered this term.
As Bent says, the boss may well be safe regardless of the outcome of his side’s semi-final against the Reds.
However, with players starting to return from injury and new players introduced to the side, there is little excuse for the Lilywhites not to improve their form in the remainder of the season and give the supporters something to cheer.
