Levy ‘set to hire controversial figure’ in bad news for Postecoglou at Tottenham
Tottenham are gearing themselves up for Thursday’s Europa League semi-final clash with Bodo/Glimt amid the backdrop that Ange Postecoglou is set for the sack.
Tottenham’s poor Premier League season took another turn for the worse when the North Londoners were hammered by Liverpool on Sunday, a result which epitomised why Spurs have set their sights on the likes of Fulham boss Marco Silva.
If Tottenham suffer a defeat to West Ham on Sunday (4 May), Postecoglou’s men will fall to 17th in the Premier League.
Spurs’ only chance of achieving success this term rests in the Europa League, but European success will seemingly not be enough to save Postecoglou from the sack.

Fabio Paratici touted for Tottenham return
Chairman Daniel Levy is aware that his next managerial appointment and the summer transfer window are vital for Spurs moving forward.
Opponent | Result |
Wolves (A) | 4-2 L |
Frankfurt (A) | 0-1 W |
Nottingham Forest (H) | 1-2 L |
Liverpool (A) | 5-1 L |
And speaking live on talkSPORT [30 April, 7.42am], Alex Crook shared that Levy could turn to Fabio Paratici to help oversee matters in what is bad news for Postecoglou.
Crook said: “There could well be a return of a sporting director as there are lots of rumblings that Fabio Paratici, now that his ban has been served will come back to Tottenham, and that could be bad news for Ange Postecoglou because I’m not sure that he was necessarily behind that appointment in the first place.”
Paratici is a controversial figure who was forced to leave his role as Spurs’ director of football in April 2023 when he was handed a 30-month ban for the role he played in a monetary scandal at Juventus.
Tottenham must avoid Europa League embarrassment
Amid a woeful Premier League campaign, Tottenham and Postecoglou’s saving grace this season has been their strong Europa League form.
Spurs’ European run has now reached crunch time as the North London outfit must beat Bodo/Glimt in the last four to book their spot in the final, where they will face either Premier League rivals Manchester United or La Liga side Athletic Bilbao.
Postecoglou’s men were already the favourites to beat the Norwegian side over two legs, but Kjetil Knutsen’s men could now be missing half of their outfield players for Thursday’s first leg courtesy of injuries and suspensions.
If Tottenham do not manage to defeat an already inferior and now depleted Bodo/Glimt outfit, it would be the biggest embarrassment of Postecoglou’s reign yet.
But on the other hand, a likely looking victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would go a long way to seeing the North Londoners through to the Europa League final.
