Daniel Levy told to hire Xavi after Postecoglou sack news – ‘Go big’
Ex-Barcelona boss Xavi has been mooted as the next Tottenham boss.
Days have passed since Daniel Levy was said to have made a decision on the future of Ange Postecoglou, with the uncertainty still lingering over Tottenham.
Despite leading Spurs to their first major trophy in 17 years, the pressure is still firmly fixed on the shoulders of the Australian, who will no doubt be waiting just as eagerly to find out where his future lies.
Several managers have been linked with the job if he does face the sack, though Jamie O’Hara has highlighted two in particular that would showcase ambition.

Tottenham are wasting valuable time
All of this uncertainty over the future of Postecoglou is tiring everyone out, but it will also restrict the amount of business they can do in the transfer market.
Quite frankly, players will not want to join a club where they aren’t yet aware who they will be playing under, showcasing just how important it is that a decision is communicated soon.
Thomas Frank has been earmarked for the job if Postecoglou does leave, but O’Hara has claimed that Levy could show some serious ambition with two big-name appointments.

In quotes provided by Grosvenor Sport (3 June), he said: “He’s lost 22 games in the Premier League; this season has been a shambles.
“I believe Daniel Levy is genuinely thinking about getting rid of him and looking at other options. I would be looking at Thomas Frank or Andoni Iraola. Frank has been in the Premier League a long time, he’s done a great job at Brentford with a budget.
“But if you’re going to go big, Levy should be looking at the likes of Xavi Hernandez or Simone Inzaghi – Inter Milan have just been embarrassed in the Champions League final. Spurs have had similar managers in the past, with Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
“There are options out there, and Spurs need to realise they’re a big football club, playing in the Champions League next season, with a UEFA Super Cup to play and the opportunity to kick on next year. Is Ange the man to take them forward? I don’t think so.”
With Champions League football to attend to next season, Spurs can’t afford to waste any time this summer, and by doing so, they are missing out on the opportunity to recruit talent that would drastically improve the quality of their starting 11.

Postecoglou is a dead man walking
This situation is a lose-lose for Postecoglou. If he gets sacked, that’s it, he’s done. If he stays, the pressure will linger over him with every bad result or error made next season.
After a 17th-placed finish in the Premier League, there is no chance at redemption for the Spurs boss, regardless of the success he found via the Europa League.
Levy almost certainly knows this, but his reluctance to make an error in judgment is likely playing a huge role in the delay in decision-making.
