Daniel Levy told to abandon Tottenham pursuit of Arsenal target right now

Daniel Levy has been urged to end his pursuit of Crystal Palace full-back Tyrick Mitchell by disgruntled Tottenham supporters on social media.

According to Sport (24 December), Spurs have joined North London rivals Arsenal and LaLiga giants Barcelona in the race for the 25-year-old ahead of the January transfer window.

Furthermore, Caught Offside provided the latest update on the situation on Sunday (29 December), claiming both Tottenham and Arsenal have opened talks with Mitchell as he prepares to enter the final six months of his contract at Selhurst Park.

However, supporters have taken to social media to voice their frustrations regarding the latest transfer speculation and have taken aim at Spurs chairman Levy.

Tottenham urged not to sign Tyrick Mitchell

While Ange Postecoglou will strengthen his backline as a priority in January, it appears the Tottenham faithful would prefer the boss to widen his search past South London.

Mitchell has been a standout performer at Crystal Palace this year and is ready to make the next step in his career as he puts all contract talks on hold.

One supporter dubbed the defender a “mid-table team signing”, while another simply labelled Tottenham as “pathetic” for targeting the full-back.

Although many supporters slammed “Daniel Freevy” for taking the cheap route to strengthening the squad, one fan opted for another approach and delivered a well-thought-out argument as to why Spurs should move in another direction.

He wrote: “I think Mitchell is a solid defender but he’s too limited on the ball to play for a top team who want to be on the front foot playing attacking football.”

After Postecoglou squandered another golden opportunity to move further up the Premier League table in the 2-2 draw against Wolves (29 December), signing recruits for the backline is paramount.

Archie Gray was called upon again to operate as a makeshift centre-back, whereas Destiny Udogie continues to be selected at left-back despite the strain on his workload.

Tottenham supporters may not like the idea of Mitchell moving to North London, but with options few and far between in January, they may soon have to get comfortable with the possibility.
