Cristian Romero responds to Tottenham loanee after crushing injury blow

Tottenham have had an injury-hit campaign and that has extended out to players on loan.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have endured a disastrous campaign in which several key players have missed extended periods of action.

Centre-back Cristian Romero was a particularly big miss over the course of the season, and the defender recently returned after a three-month absence to start the last two Premier League games.

The Argentinian has now sent a heartfelt message to one of his teammates who has spent the season away from North London, as he was dealt a devastating injury blow of his own.

Cristian Romero offers support to Tottenham loanee Bryan Gil

Winger Bryan Gil has spent another campaign away from Spurs, as the Spaniard joined La Liga side Girona on a loan deal last summer.

Gil was dealt a huge injury blow as he underwent knee surgery, which will now rule him out for the rest of the season, ending what was a promising campaign on loan at Estadi Montilivi.

After sharing an update on his Instagram page after his surgery, Romero offered his support to Gil, having endured injury problems of his own.

“Come on buddy, you’re going to come back stronger than ever, I love you brother,” Romero commented on Gil’s post.

Gil’s future is now far from clear as he will spend the next few months recovering from injury, with the 24-year-old unlikely to feature in Tottenham’s plans for next season.

How did Tottenham loanee Bryan Gil perform at Girona?

Gil has had a mixed bag of moves away from Tottenham since he was signed, with loans at Valencia and Sevilla proving fairly unproductive, but it was a different story for him earlier on this season.

With Girona competing in the Champions League, this move provided him with the opportunity to compete at the highest level, and three goals and three assists in 21 La Liga starts was his best return since the 2020-21 season.

The attacker even earned a call-up to the Spain squad, and Girona were even considering signing Gil permanently, but this may no longer be the case as he looks likely to miss the start of next season.
