Brentford bombshell as new manager favourite could now join Frank at Tottenham

Brentford could be hit by a double whammy as Tottenham close in on Thomas Frank.

The Dane looks set to replace Ange Postecoglou in north London, who was sacked on 6 June despite winning the Europa League.

Daniel Levy has acted fast to secure his preferred replacement and it seems like it is only a matter of time before an appointment is announced.

Tottenham set to nab favourite for Brentford job

There will be several backroom appointments to follow Frank as he moves to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas (10 June) has reported that no agreement has been reached, but talks will continue over compensation.

Thomas states that several backroom staff members will be discussed, including Justin Cochrane, who is an assistant coach to the Dane.

The 43-year-old is also the 4/7 favourite with Bet Victor to replace Frank at the G-Tech Community Stadium, so it would be a major blow for the Bees if he were to join the new Spurs boss.

Brentford could be devastated by Tottenham swoop

Frank and his coaching team are a huge part of the way that the Bees have been able to establish themselves in the Premier League after being promoted in the 2020-21 season.

His side finished 10th last season, despite a very modest budget and it remains to be seen how they will perform without their highly-rated manager.

If they were to lose some of their best backroom staff members like Cochrane, Claus Norgaard, goalkeeping coach Manu Sotelo and head of athletic performance Chris Haslam, it could be a huge destabilising factor.

The likes of Bryan Mbuemo, Yoane Wissa and Nathan Collins thrived under Frank and his staff and losing them could hinder their ability to produce top-flight stars in the future.

The Lilywhites could deal further blows to the TW8 outfit, if they target their players in the market and bring in even more of the 51-year-old’s staff, leaving the Bees with a tough task to find replacements.

Taking Cochrane could be the biggest blow, as he seems to be primed to takeover in the dugout once Frank departs.
