Brennan Johnson reacts to latest season-ending injury blow at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur have endured torrid luck regarding injuries this season, and the end of the campaign has been no different.

Several Spurs stars have faced lengthy spells on the sidelines. As a result, Ange Postecoglou has had to paper over the cracks.

As the North London outfit prepare for their biggest game of the season, they do so without another one of their key men.

Tottenham face Manchester United in the Europa League final next week, knowing that a win will guarantee them Champions League football next season.

The Lilywhites will enter the encounter with a solid record against their counterparts and are unbeaten in their last six against the Red Devils.

However, both sides have suffered their worst domestic seasons in decades, meaning choosing a winner feels like a lottery.

Postecoglou has been dealt several injury blows leading up to the final, with James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall both injured.

Now, their star man Dejan Kulusevski will miss the tie as he undergoes surgery on a patella tendon injury.

Messages have been flooding in for the Sweden international, and Brennan Johnson took to social media to offer his support.

Underneath Kulusevski’s Instagram post (14 May), which showcased his highlights of the season, Johnson posted a heart emoji.

Kulusevski injury a major blow for Spurs

Some players can be replaced when they get injured, but Kulusevski does not fall into that category.

The 25-year-old is one of a kind, and replacing his skillset is something that Postecoglou simply cannot do.

Kulusevski is the creative hub in Tottenham’s midfield, picking out passes, generating chances, and gliding past players.

Without him, Spurs’ hopes of lifting silverware are significantly dented.

In a season that has been tough to watch for Spurs supporters, the Swede has been one of the few standouts.

The midfielder has notched 32 Premier League appearances this term, scoring seven goals and assisting four.

His absence opens up a chance to one of Spurs’ outsiders, but their best bet for silverware in 17 years has been dealt the cruellest blow.
