Brennan Johnson in fresh injury scare as footage emerges from Tottenham training

Tottenham’s injury list is piling up once again ahead of the UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United.

Tottenham and everyone involved will be fully aware of just how crucial their Europa League final with Manchester United is for a multitude of reasons.

Not only does the future of Ange Postecoglou hang in the balance, but the same will be said about Spurs’ recruitment plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Lilywhites’ hopes of lifting the trophy will hinge on players being fit, and the latest footage from training has provided yet another scare ahead of the clash in Bilbao on Wednesday, 21 May.

Postecoglou provides update on Johnson

Tottenham already have a fresh concern over Dejan Kulusevski, and they will be particularly keen on avoiding any others in the coming weeks.

With James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall sidelined at the moment, the injury list is piling up again, and footage of Johnson from training on Monday (12 May) will have provided even more concern at Spurs.

Sergio Reguillon was captured wiping Johnson out at Hotspur Way, with the Welshman forced to sit out for a while after the challenge.

In response to the footage, Postecoglou said [via Alasdair Gold, 12 May], “I don’t know if you saw training, but we had Reggy slide tackling [Brennan] Johnson and they were on the same team! It seems to be how our season has gone. You want to protect the integrity of training.

“Thankfully, nothing too serious [Johnson’s scare].”

Johnson did end up joining back in with training. However, any more scares ahead of the final will be a major concern for Tottenham as they look to win their first trophy in 17 years, and secure UEFA Champions League qualification.

Postecoglou needs his side at full capacity v Man United

Tottenham will need to be at their best if they are to make anything of this season, which, by all accounts so far, has certainly been one to forget.

Spurs must win the Europa League, and a failure to do so could severely impact their ability to progress next season.

Postecoglou will undoubtedly be keen to see his players go somewhat light on each other in training to prevent any more injuries from occurring.

A lack of availability has been the story of their domestic campaign. Therefore, they will not want any further injury issues ahead of the Europa League final.
