Bodo/Glimt send eerie warning to Tottenham ahead of Europa League semi-final
Tottenham will be looking to confirm their place in the Europa League final on Thursday as they head to Bodo/Glimt with a 3-1 lead.
Spurs’ season is now purely dependent on their Europa League success after a terrible year in the Premier League.
Ange Postecoglou has faced the wrath of the Tottenham faithful for many months for his team’s performances, but all may be forgiven if he can lift the London club’s first trophy since 2008.
Up against Norwegian champions Bodo/Glimt, goals from Brennan Johnson, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke ensured that Spurs have a two-goal advantage going into the second leg.
However, the club have now been warned that their place in the final may not be guaranteed for two specific reasons.

Bodo/Glimt insist they have two advantages over Tottenham for Europa League semi-final
Many Spurs fans felt their place in the Europa League final was assured when it was revealed that they would face Bodo/Glimt.
The Norwegian champions shocked the competition when they knocked out Lazio in the quarter-finals on penalties, despite losing on the night.
Much of their success in Europe has come down to their home form, with the club seeing victories in 28 of their last 34 matches at the Aspmyra Stadion and are currently on a five-game winning run.
Bodo/Glimt’s last five home matches in Europe |
Bodo/Glimt 2-1 Beşiktaş |
Bodo/Glimt 3-1 Maccabi Tel Aviv |
Bodo/Glimt 5-2 Twente |
Bodo/Glimt 3-0 Olympiacos |
Bodo/Glimt 2-0 Lazio |
This, combined with the fact that they have not played since their defeat in the first leg, gives the club a chance to overturn the two-goal deficit, according to Bodo/Glimt’s Ole Didrik Blomberg.
He told Hayters TV (6 May): “The artificial pitch is probably going to be tough for them, for the knees and their backs, and hopefully they’ll feel a little bit old. We (also) had one week off, they had a game, so we’ll make good use of that.”
Tottenham must score an early goal past Bodo/Glimt
An early goal in vital in the second-leg to silence the Bodo/Glimt crowd who are no doubt going to be up for the tie.
Tottenham already did this in the first leg when Johnson scored after just one minute, which was vital for the eventual outcome of the match.
However, if this can be repeated again, it would almost guarantee Spurs’ place in the final.
It is no doubt going to be a tough match in Norway, but Tottenham are in a perfect position to see the tie out.
