BBC Sport’s well-placed sources reveal huge Pochettino-Tottenham return update
Tottenham Hotspur have gone through a whole host of managers since Mauricio Pochettino was dismissed in 2019, but he has now been linked with a shock return to North London.
Pochettino took Spurs to the Champions League final in 2019, but there was uproar as he was sacked just six months later after a poor start to the following season.
The Argentinian was a popular figure at Spurs, but Daniel Levy replaced him with Jose Mourinho in a bid to get over the line to win trophies, but the club has gone downhill since.
Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte were hired and fired before Ange Postecoglou was brought in, but with fans unhappy, the Australian’s future has been questioned.
With Pochettino linked with a return, it has now been explained whether the current USMNT coach could be in line to take charge next season.

Mauricio Pochettino does not desire Spurs return
BBC Sport have now revealed that despite the links between Pochettino and Spurs, the manager has no intention of leaving his role in the USA.
“According to well-placed sources, Pochettino has no immediate wish to return to Spurs. He is said to be fully committed to leading the US to a home World Cup,” they revealed.

Pochettino’s USMNT were beaten in back-to-back games by Panama and Canada in the CONCACAF Nations League, but his job remains secure ahead of the World Cup next year, which is set to take place in USA, Canada and Mexico.

Spurs’ instability since Pochettino’s departure
It is questionable whether Pochettino is the right coach to take Spurs forward, but one thing is clear: the club needs to have a period of stability like they enjoyed under him for five years.
Although he did not lift any silverware, Spurs flew under Pochettino, challenging for the Premier League title in 2016 and 2017, as well as reaching the Champions League final in dramatic circumstances.
Pochettino kept Spurs competitive despite a stadium move and a lack of transfer activity, which included two transfer windows where no outfield players were recruited.
With the club in turmoil hiring and firing several managers, many would look back at the Pochettino era as a much better period than anything that has followed since.
