Arsenal v Tottenham preview: Team news, betting odds, lineups, where to watch

Ange Postecoglou must build on recent momentum at Tottenham to secure a victory in the North London derby against Arsenal on Wednesday.

Spurs needed extra time to secure passage to the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday (12 January) in the 3-0 win against National League outfit Tamworth.

Postecoglou suffered defeat in the Premier League last time out against Newcastle United, but he is heading to the Emirates on a good run of form after putting one foot into the Carabao Cup final following the 1-0 win against Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Wednesday (8 January).

Preview

While the weekend trip to The Lamb Ground proved to be a nervy encounter for the visitors, Tottenham managed to get over the line in the end.

Arsenal will undoubtedly be encouraged by the performance they saw from their rivals, despite suffering an early FA Cup exit after Kai Havertz missed the decisive spot-kick in the penalty shootout loss against Manchester United.

The supporters kept a close eye on Spurs and even had their heads turned as Tamworth “set-piece master” Tom Tonks stole all the headlines.

However, Postecoglou must start producing consistent results in the Premier League to ease the pressure on his shoulders in North London.

Mikel Arteta will be without star man Bukayo Saka for the clash – a welcome boost for the visitors – but the scars remain from the 1-0 loss against the Gunners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September, courtesy of a trademark Gabriel goal from a set-piece.

Where to watch?

The match at the Emirates will kick off 8pm GMT on Wednesday (15 January) and will be available live on TNT Sports and available to stream live on Discovery +.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-2 Tottenham

Postecoglou may have no better opportunity to get the better of Arteta at the Emirates.

Arsenal are struggling without star talisman Saka, and while Tottenham are also riddled with injuries, recent form favours the visitors.

After the win against Liverpool, the Lilywhites have already proven they are capable of beating the best, and the boss is far from out of the woods at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

With the opportunity to ease the pressure and pile further on his North London counterpart, it is time for Postecoglou to send a statement of intent to the rest of the Premier League.
