Arsenal next manager: Ex-Tottenham boss in running amid Arteta sack news

Tottenham could see a familiar face in the Arsenal dugout if Mikel Arteta is sacked.

Spurs could end up having a more successful season than their North London rivals if they beat Manchester United in the Europa League final (21 May).

The Gunners were knocked out of the Champions League after they were defeated by Paris Saint-Germain at the semi-final stage and look set to finish second in the Premier League.

Conte could replace Arteta at Arsenal

Antonio Conte was a controversial figure when he was in the dugout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Italian constantly clashed with Levy over a lack of investment in the transfer market and ultimately results on the pitch were not good enough and he was sacked after 16 months in charge.

The 55-year-old is regarded as a serial winner but he could not bring success to the Lilywhites in his short but fiery reign in N17.

However, he could be about to get another shot in the capital, with Spurs’ arch-rivals Arsenal, as pressure mounts on Arteta’s future.

Some Gunners supporters have had enough of the 43-year-old and have called on him to be sacked and the bookmakers have started taking bets on the next manager across North London.

Conte is 8/1 with Bet Victor to take over from the Spaniard at the Emirates Stadium, which makes him the third-favourite behind Max Allegri (6/1) and Simone Inzaghi (5/1).

Tottenham fans would hate seeing Conte at Arsenal

Given his failure to bring trophies to the Spurs cabinet despite his reputation, it would be a huge disappointment for supporters if Conte was to be successful with the 14-time FA Cup winners if he replaced Arteta.

The Napoli boss has already proven that he has no concerns crossing London divides as he managed Chelsea, where he won the title in his first season, before his failed stint with the Lilywhites.

Arteta has spent over £800million in his spell in the dugout and has delivered just one FA Cup in that time, so Tottenham fans would love to see him continue to struggle for success rather than being sacked.
