Ange Postecoglou’s summer return takes new twist after Tottenham tirade

Ange Postecoglou’s comments about Tottenham on The Overlap have caused a stir in the footballing world, to say the least.

The former Spurs boss didn’t hold back when speaking out against ENIC and the rest of the Lilywhites’ hierarchy, claiming that their ambition is confusing.

The Aussie is loved at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and many Spurs fans would love to see him back following the sacking of Thomas Frank.

Postecoglou‘s words were strong, and after a disappointing spell at Nottingham Forest earlier this season, he could find it hard to land a new job.

Ange Postecoglou’s odds drift for Celtic job after Overlap appearance

Spurs fans were delighted to see Postecoglou letting rip at Tottenham‘s owners, and the comical timing of his appearance on the podcast was interesting after Frank’s recent dismissal.

Despite his poor time at Nottingham Forest, many Tottenham supporters would take him back in a heartbeat, as the Lilywhites look set to appoint Igor Tudor on an interim basis until the end of the season.

However, the same could be said for Celtic and their fans, with Martin O’Neill currently only set to stay with the Hoops until the end of this campaign.

Bookmakers now have Postecoglou low down the list to become Celtic’s next permanent appointment, which comes right after his latest comments on The Overlap.

One major bookmaker has Postecoglou down as 16/1 to get the job, despite his odds previously sitting at 4/1 earlier this season.

A betting firm has Tottenham-linked Robbie Keane at 10/1, with the outstanding favourite Roberto Martinez with odds of 7/4.

So it seems like clubs could take extra caution when considering the idea of hiring Postecoglou from now on.

Why Postecoglou’s words set himself up for fairytale Tottenham return

Mauricio Pochettino is heavily linked with the Tottenham job, and could be headed for a wholesome return to N17 in the summer.

The current US Men’s National Team head coach is set to take over his role at this year’s World Cup, where he could then depart his role for Tottenham shortly after the competition concludes.

However, although it’s looking likely that Postecoglou won’t be the next appointment for Spurs, there’s a clear reason why he could come back in the future.

ENIC won’t be here forever, and neither will Joe Lewis, and one day, new owners could come in. That’s because Tottenham fans want to force their current owners out, who are the key factor that’s blocking Postecoglou’s return.

There are suggestions that Pochettino wants to fulfil his dream of winning silverware for the Lilywhites, but if he comes back and does so, by then, everything could be lined up for Postecoglou to take the reins once again.
