Ange Postecoglou ‘to deserve Tottenham statue’ in ridiculous sack latest
Ange Postecoglou has steered Tottenham to the Europa League semi-finals, where the North Londoners will take on Norwegian side Bodo Glimt.
Spurs successfully defeated Bundesliga highfliers Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany on Thursday, thanks to Dominic Solanke’s penalty, securing a 2-1 aggregate win.
Postecoglou could now navigate a route to the final, where they could take on either Manchester United or Athletic Bilbao.
But thanks to Wolves’ win over the Red Devils on Sunday, Tottenham have slipped to just 16th in the Premier League table before playing Nottingham Forest on Monday.

Postecoglou tipped to be given Tottenham statue
Despite Spurs’ successful run in the Europa League, Postecoglou remains under serious pressure amid his side’s poor Premier League season.
Daily Record journalist Keith Jackson debated whether the boss should retain his job if he guides Spurs to Europa League glory.
Writing in the newspaper’s print edition [21 April, pg 41], he said: “As ridiculous as it sounds. It’s not a sure thing. If he does it, he’ll deserve a statue. But he could end up with a P45 instead. And doesn’t that just perfectly sum up the mess that Tottenham have made of themselves?”
If Tottenham are beaten by Forest on Monday, it will mark their 18th defeat of the Premier League season.

Spurs should reach the Europa League final
Postecoglou cannot hide from the fact that Tottenham have endured a woeful Premier League season, and could finish 17th, which would epitomise just how poorly the North Londoners have performed regularly this term.
Opponent | Result |
Southampton (H) | 3-1 W |
Frankfurt (H) | 1-1 D |
Wolves (A) | 4-2 L |
Frankfurt (A) | 0-1 W |
After Monday’s clash with Champions League chasers Forest, Postecoglou’s side then take on Liverpool, who could clinch the Premier League title with a win on Sunday, 27 April.
But despite their domestic struggles, Spurs appear set to reach the Europa League final and should have enough quality to defeat Bodo Glimt in the semi-finals.
The Norwegian side have majorly exceeded expectations by reaching the last four, and got the better of Serie A outfit Lazio in the quarter-finals.
But Tottenham would be embarrassed to lose in the Europa League semi-finals to a relative minnow of the European game, something which would surely see Postecoglou immediately sacked.
If Postecoglou can subsequently lead Spurs to the Europa League title, it could prove enough to save his spot in the dugout.
