Ange Postecoglou has been told to start Luca Williams-Barnett at Tottenham after “stunning” footage emerged on Saturday.

Postecoglou’s side have struggled this season, with the Australian on the verge of being sacked by Daniel Levy as a result.

Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 at the AFAS Stadion on Thursday (6 March) has left Postecoglou’s future hanging in the balance in North London.

Therefore, an injection of youth into the first-team could help to turn things around.

And Williams-Barnett has proven once again why he should be that youth player promoted to the first-team after what he did on 8 March.

Williams-Barnett shines for Spurs Under-18s v Arsenal Under-18s

Williams-Barnett has been in fine form for Spurs’ Under-18s this season, with the academy sensation scoring twice in a thrilling 6-4 win for Stuart Lewis’ side over Arsenal’s Under-18s in the Under-18 Premier League at Hotspur Way.

Footage of Williams-Barnett’s first goal was shared to X via Tottenham Hotspur Academy (8 March), described in the caption as “simply stunning”.

And fans were clearly in agreement, with some simply blown away by the long-distance strike, while others suggested that Postecoglou needs to hand Williams-Barnett a first-team opportunity in North London.

Postecoglou should hand Williams-Barnett an opportunity

A youth player rarely makes quite the impact that Williams-Barnett has made on the Under-18s this season. It is important to remember that the Spurs sensation is still only 16 years old.

However, that is how old Mikey Moore was when he was handed his debut, and the 17-year-old is now a full member of the first-team.

Therefore, Postecoglou needs to take a chance and hand Williams-Barnett a similar opportunity.

Otherwise, Spurs are at risk of losing Williams-Barnett when it comes to the youngster making a long-term decision about his future, as other clubs are bound to circle.
