Ange Postecoglou to manage Tottenham ‘next season’ as Daniel Levy claim emerges
Daniel Levy has a decision to make regarding Ange Postecoglou after Tottenham lost 1-0 against Chelsea on Thursday.
A 50th-minute goal from Enzo Fernandez at Stamford Bridge on 3 April saw Spurs succumb to their 16th Premier League defeat of the season.
That is more defeats than Tottenham suffered in the 2008-09 campaign, meaning things could get much worse between now and the end of the season.
If that was not bad enough, Postecoglou was seen gesturing towards the Tottenham fans after Pape Matar Sarr’s disallowed goal.

Wayne Bridge expects Postecoglou to stay at Tottenham
There are increasing shouts for Postecoglou to be sacked as the Tottenham manager, but it appears Levy is waiting until the end of the season to assess his future.
Wayne Bridge believes that the fact that the former Celtic boss has not been fired yet suggests that he will still be in North London next season.
“I still think he’s there next season”, Bridge said on The Dressing Room podcast (1 April).
Joleon Lescott, though, reckons Postecoglou’s future will depend on how far he takes Tottenham in the UEFA Europa League this term.
“It depends on what they do in Europe”, Lescott replied.
Season | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goals | Points | Points Per Match |
2023-24 | 41 | 21 | 6 | 14 | 79:68 | 69 | 1.68 |
2024-25 | 47 | 21 | 6 | 20 | 88:66 | 69 | 1.47 |
However, Bridge does not see the point of waiting until the end of the season to pull the plug on Postecoglou.
“Right, who are they getting then?”, Bridge asked.
“I just feel like, if he’s lasted this long, why let him get to next season and sack him?”
Lescott is of the view that Levy does not want to repeat the mistake of sacking a manager while there is still something to be won.
The former Manchester City defender pointed out how the Spurs chairman fired Jose Mourinho just days before the EFL Cup final in 2021.
“I feel Levy might have learned from when he [sacked] Mourinho”, Lescott said.
“He was close to winning something… Mourinho in a final, you’ve got a chance, I don’t care who you’re playing.
“So, I think he might be thinking, ‘Do I disrupt it now?’. He’s doing well in Europe, isn’t he? They’re doing well in Europe.”
Levy to stick with Postecoglou at Spurs for now
The reason Levy has not sacked Postecoglou probably has nothing to do with the possibility of winning the Europa League.
Tottenham would likely have to appoint a caretaker manager like Ryan Mason if they were to pull the plug on the Greek-Australian manager now.
The chairman, perhaps, does not see the benefit in doing so as he would have to like for a new permanent manager in the summer anyway.
However, Postecoglou has the chance to turn things around in North London as long as Spurs are active in the Europa League and it remains to be seen if he can pull a miracle off.
