Ange Postecoglou to be ‘wanted by other clubs’ amid Tottenham sack talk
Tottenham may have lifted the Europa League trophy after beating Manchester United, but Ange Postecoglou’s future remains as uncertain as ever.
The Europa League has seemingly been the only thing keeping the Australian in a job this season, but even that is not set to guarantee his future.
Daniel Levy now faces a decision on whether to stick or twist ahead of the summer transfer window, but it has been suggested that it could be Postecoglou who has the decision to make.

Postecoglou to receive interest this summer
The failure of Tottenham’s season falls on the shoulders of everyone at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, Postecoglou’s role has caused particular debate between supporters with some arguing that with more backing from Levy, things would improve.
On the other hand, a lack of adaptability from the boss has also been blamed for a series of defeats that the Lilywhites have fallen to this season.
Although all eyes are on the Spurs chief to see what he will do regarding Postecoglou’s managerial position, it’s been argued that Tottenham could be caught off guard.
Speaking on Sky Sports Football (22 May, 0:47), former Spurs defender Ramon Vega suggested that the boss could face interest from elsewhere this summer.
Vega said: “I’m telling you now, I think we need to keep him. But also, the question is, how are you going to keep him? Because a lot of teams out there will think about this guy is a stable and a winner.”
Postecoglou interest could soften the blow
Although Postecoglou has ended Tottenham’s wait for silverware, there is a lot at stake with Champions League football on the agenda next season, and whether he has what it takes to reach the standards is yet to be seen.
Winning the Europa League is certainly impressive and the boss deserves credit for this, although when Vega talks about interest from elsewhere, it seems highly unlikely that a team at the same standards would want Postecoglou.
Postecoglou’s last three jobs | Win Rate |
Tottenham | 47% |
Celtic | 73.45% |
Yokohama F. Marinos | 49.07% |
That being said, if Spurs did choose to part ways this summer, then there could well be sides that see the 59-year-old as an attractive option if not tied to another role.
This could well soften the blow for Postecoglou, too, giving him the opportunity to throw himself into a new project should Levy choose to go down a different route ahead of the new campaign.
