Ange Postecoglou to be held accountable after what happened at Tottenham

Simon Jordan has called out Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham despite the victory over Manchester United on Sunday.

The Lilywhites battled to a 1-0 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with James Maddison scoring the winner early on after a week of criticism.

However, with Spurs still sitting 12th in the Premier League, there is still plenty of chatter around the future of manager Postecoglou.

Simon Jordan calls for Ange Postecoglou to stop hiding

Tottenham’s poor form throughout the campaign has unsurprisingly led to many conversations about the future of Postecoglou in North London.

However, the boss has hit back at times and questioned whether the criticism is fair given how many injuries his side has had to struggle with throughout the season.

This has led to plenty of debate about where the blame lies at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with both Postecoglou and Daniel Levy being blamed.

Speaking live on talkSPORT (17 February, 11:34am) Jordan admitted Postecoglou cannot hide from all the blame, saying: “When you’ve had your best team available to you and you’ve lost at home to Ipswich, your best team’s been available to you.

“When you had your best team available, you’ve been 2-0 up against Brighton, you’ve lost. When you’ve had your best team available to you away at Selhurst Park to Crystal Palace, who at the time were stinking the place out, you lose.

“You don’t get those passes. I think you get some of them. So I think that Ange has to be accountable for some of the poor performances.”

Ange Postecoglou has to take his share of the blame

Tottenham’s current position in the Premier League is certainly a combination of multiple factors and until those in North London address them all, they are unlikely to see the kind of progress at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

There is certainly a feeling that Levy could have contributed more in terms of transfers given how hard the Lilywhites have been hit by injuries which have certainly not helped Postecoglou.

However, as Jordan says, we cannot pretend that Tottenham’s woes this season only started when they were losing players from the side. Throughout the campaign, the Lilywhites have been inconsistent, even with their full side available.

It seems as though the players in North London have struggled to adapt to Postecoglou’s relentless attacking way of football which, some think is the reason for the number of injuries at Tottenham too.

Surely if the boss wants to prolong his time at Tottenham, he has to recognise that he also needs to show some adaptability and change his methods to suit the players that are available to him.

There is now only Europa League action left for Spurs to succeed in this term and with that in mind, the Australian needs to put more focus into winning games than he does trying to silence the criticism from the outside.
