Ange Postecoglou takes giant stride towards Premier League return as contract news emerges after offer tabled
It feels like a lifetime ago since Tottenham sacked Ange Postecoglou.
Since Daniel Levy dismissed Postecoglou on 6 June, 187 days have passed, the Aussie has been hired and fired by Nottingham Forest and even his replacement at Spurs, Thomas Frank, has come under fire himself.
It’s been a crazy year for the 60-year-old, ending Tottenham’s 17-year wait for silverware by winning the Europa League, while also breaking unwanted records both in North London and the East Midlands, where his 39-day spell in charge went down as the shortest managerial reign in Premier League history.
However, Postecoglou’s 2025 could still end on a high with the former Tottenham and Celtic manager in the running for multiple major jobs.
Leeds move now seems less likely as Daniel Farke improves results
Even though Daniel Farke has overseen a couple of good results in the last week, the German’s future at Elland Road isn’t exactly guaranteed.
Leeds are struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League table; they’re 16th after 15 games, with their 15 points seeing them just two shy of West Ham in the relegation zone.
Back in October, Postecoglou was listed in the running to replace Farke, should the Elland Road board decide to dismiss the ex-Norwich manager.

As it stands, Postecoglou is a 12/1 outsider with one major bookmaker.
However, last month, it was reported that Postecoglou had admirers among Leeds’ hierarchy before Farke’s results improved.
New Fulham chaos could lead to Ange Postecoglou appointment
In late November, Postecoglou was named as a major candidate for the Fulham job, rated as the 2/1 second-favourite.
On Wednesday, talkSPORT reported that Fulham are lining up potential replacements for Marco Silva, whose future is up in the air with his contract at Craven Cottage expiring at the end of the season.
It is understood that Silva “has been reluctant to sign a new deal” and “has also been vocal about his frustrations over the club’s lack of transfer activity in the summer”.

Silva has been offered a new contract by Fulham, but with the Cottagers 15th in the Premier League – just two points ahead of Leeds – questions have to be raised about whether or not they now want him to extend his stay in West London.
Postecoglou has been out of work since his disastrous – yet unfair – stint at Nottingham Forest, and while he was initially a front-runner for the Fulham job, one bookmaker’s most recent odds now have the Aussie rated at 9/1 to replace Silva.
Current running for next Fulham manager, as of 10 December:
- Brendan Rodgers – 4/1
- Liam Rosenior – 9/2
- Gary O’Neil – 7/1
- Michael Carrick – 8/1
- Kjetil Knutsen – 17/2
- Ange Postecoglou – 9/1
Let’s hope the former Spurs boss bounces back soon. He didn’t deserve what Levy did to him and he certainly didn’t deserve to go through what he did at Forest.
