Ange Postecoglou shares one-word answer to Tottenham recall question
Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Tottenham have no intention of recalling Manor Solomon or Bryan Gil in the winter transfer window.
The Lilywhites are struggling with many key players including the likes of Micky van der Ven and Cristian Romero missing through injury, while Dominic Solanke has just picked up an injury that will keep him out for a number of weeks.
With this in mind, the Australian needs to add faces to his squad if he is going to find some form and take his side upwards from 15th in the Premier League.
However, Fabrizio Romano reported via X (24 January) that when asked if he was considering recalling the likes of Solomon or Gil from their respective loan spells at Leeds United and Girona, Postecoglou simply replied: “No.”
Tottenham need reinforcements from somewhere
The lack of movement during the transfer window so far at Tottenham will be worrying for Spurs supporters who will have been hoping to see some new faces in the door.
The boss is currently under large amounts of pressure with his side sitting so low in the Premier League and a 3-2 loss against Everton on Sunday (19 January) certainly didn’t help ease this.
You can understand why the boss wants to leave his players on loan where they are at Leeds United and Girona given both are playing regularly, which will help their development in the long term compared to sitting on the bench for Spurs just in case they need calling upon.
That being said, Postecoglou can’t be too picky and if he doesn’t move to bring some new signings into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium soon, he may be wishing he had brought some reinforcement back to the club to prove themselves.
