Ange Postecoglou sack: Message inside Tottenham emerges overnight
Ange Postecoglou wasn’t at risk of being sacked at Tottenham ahead of the game against Wolves in the Premier League, according to The Telegraph.
The news outlet reports (29 December) that the “message from inside” the North London club before the 2-2 draw was that the Australian manager’s position was safe.
Postecoglou wasn’t in danger of the sack, but the last-gasp goal to sacrifice all three points against Vitor Pereira will not have pleased him.
Daniel Levy needs to back Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham
Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray were once again the centre-back pairing for the North Londoners in the Wolves fixture, showing how bad things have got.
The former Celtic head coach has been unable to count on Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies due to their injuries.
Postecoglou has had several fitness issues this season, and with a makeshift backline, one can’t expect him to grind out results every week.
Spurs beat Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals on 19 December, but the frailties in defence were evident in the 4-3 victory.

Since then, the Lilywhites have failed to win any of their matches, with Liverpool scoring six past them on 22 December.
The 59-year-old head coach has shown that he can get the best out of the team on occasions in the current campaign, beating Manchester City twice already.
As things stand, the North Londoners are in the bottom half of the table and need to bounce back against Newcastle United on 4 January.
Daniel Levy has failed with his managerial appointments over the years and should resist any urge to sack the Australian.
To that end, the Spurs chairman will need to put his hands in his pockets to reinforce the squad in the January transfer window.
In other Tottenham news, a £20million Pedro Porro replacement has already been identified.
