Postecoglou shares cruel Bergvall injury news at Tottenham – ‘Unfortunately…’
Tottenham are vying to beat Bodo/Glimt in Thursday’s Europa League semi-final first leg and give themselves a solid platform to build on ahead of the second leg in Norway next week.
But key man Lucas Bergvall, who has made 12 Europa League appearances, was absent from the Tottenham team sheet thanks to a fresh injury concern in a cruel blow.
The Sweden international performed well for the North Londoners when they negotiated their way past Frankfurt in the quarter-finals.
However, Spurs will have to overcome the challenge posed by Bodo/Glimt without Bergvall’s services, while Rodrigo Bentancur has returned to the lineup.

Postecoglou reveals the extent of Bergvall’s injury
Bergvall recently penned a long-term contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, epitomising his importance to the North London club.

Ange Postecoglou has spoken out on the teenager’s injury, and told Spurs’ official website: “Unfortunately, for Lucas, he picked up an injury in training yesterday.
“He just tweaked his ankle unfortunately and he misses out tonight, which is disappointing for him because he’s been outstanding for us this year. Obviously he’s hugely disappointed with that but, unfortunately, he misses out.”

Tottenham will hope Bergvall is back in time for second leg
Spurs will still fancy their chances of beating Bodo/Glimt despite Bergvall’s absence, but there is no doubt that his injury is a blow to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium side.
While the Sweden international will not play a part in Thursday’s first leg, the North Londoners will hope that the 19-year-old will return to fitness ahead of the second leg.
Tottenham suffered their 19th Premier League defeat when they were hammered by Liverpool on Sunday, so their only chances of achieving success rest in the Europa League.
Their chances of lifting European silverware will be boosted by the presence of Bergvall, if he is fit to play in the second leg of their semi-final clash with Bodo/Glimt.
Should Spurs progress to the final, where they will face either Athletic Bilbao or Manchester United, they will also hope to have the services of the Sweden international.
In any case, though, the North Londoners will be embarrassed if they fail to beat Bodo/Glimt.
