Ange Postecoglou jets out of England amid Tottenham sack latest
Ange Postecoglou has left England after Spurs’ 4-1 defeat to Brighton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
Spurs’ defeat against Brighton was their 22nd of a historically poor Premier League campaign, in which the Lilywhites recorded their lowest ever finish (17th) and lowest ever points tally (38) in the competition.
After Dominic Solanke put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot in the first half, the Seagulls scored four times after the break to secure a resounding victory in North London.
This performance came as a strong contrast to the 1-0 victory against Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday (21 May), where defensive solidity carried Tottenham through to victory.
And with UEFA Champions League football confirmed for the new season, serious improvements will need to be made at Tottenham.

Postecoglou heads on holiday as Daniel Levy mulls over his future
While most would attribute the defeat against Brighton to the festivities of the days before, it may be one defeat too many for Levy, who continues to study Postecoglou’s future.
Spurs’ 22 defeats in England’s top-flight this season were the most ever by a team that avoided relegation in a 38-game Premier League campaign.
Premier League | MP | W | D | L | Pts |
17. Tottenham | 38 | 11 | 5 | 22 | 38 |
Postecoglou revealed in his Brighton pre-match press conference on Saturday (24 May) that he would be heading off on holiday on Monday (26 May).
According to talkSPORT (25 May), a decision wasn’t expected on the 59-year-old before he jetted out of England. Levy is still mulling over whether to proceed with the decision to sack Postecoglou after Spurs’ Europa League victory.

Levy must decide on Postecoglou’s future
While it is understandable why Levy needs time to decide on Postecoglou’s future, success waits for no one.
Postecoglou has just given Tottenham their biggest springboard for success with the Europa League trophy and Champions League football. However, there has been little clarification on how the club wishes to work towards prolonged success, whether Postecoglou is leading the charge or not.
Tottenham have a golden opportunity to build a bright future, and Levy must get this decision right.
