Ange Postecoglou developments ‘ironic’ after latest Tottenham sack news
Tottenham’s success via the Europa League has sparked debate over the future of Ange Postecoglou.
This season will always be remembered by Tottenham fans, and it will be a very different array of reasons as to why in the future.
Postecoglou led Tottenham to their first major trophy in 17 years, but also had them anchored towards the bottom of the Premier League table with a points tally that would have got them relegated in previous seasons.
That is the conundrum Daniel Levy faces this summer when deciding the future of Postecoglou, which Danny Murphy appears to be stuck in two minds over.

Tottenham may sack Postecoglou despite Europa League triumph
Even after Tottenham won the Europa League, there are still clouds of discontent over North London, with Postecoglou still facing the sack.
Levy is still said to be deliberating over whether to pull the trigger on the manager who won their first trophy in nearly two decades, and will no doubt have their domestic record in the back of his mind.
Murphy, in quotes provided by talkSPORT BET, understands both sides of the argument, while highlighting the reason why many Spurs fans will want the Australian to remain in the job.
“Tottenham have tried so many different types of managers in the past,” said Murphy.
“From experienced winners like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, to more pragmatic coaches like Nuno Espirito Santo, and then the complete opposite in Ange Postecoglou. It’s difficult to nail down what kind of manager they’ll go for next.

“You, of course, want a manager with a philosophy, but they also need to be adaptable. You want someone who’s experienced and knows how to win – there are a lot of boxes you want ticked.
“In the end, the only one who has actually brought silverware to the club is Ange, so there will be a good section of the fanbase who want the club to stick with him. The irony is, they won the Europa League final by being solid and pragmatic. He obviously knows how to win like that, as do the players, which makes you wonder why he doesn’t do that more often.”
Regardless of the success in Europe, a 17th-placed finish in the league is wholly unacceptable for a club with the stature of Spurs, which is why it wouldn’t come as a surprise to many if he does face the sack this summer.

Levy must be decisive this summer
If Postecoglou is going to be sacked, it needs to be done now. If Postecoglou is going to be in charge next season, that needs to be made clear now.
This uncertainty is only going to cause trouble heading into the summer transfer window, with plenty of recruitment needed in North London.
Tottenham will struggle to attract players if they are unaware as to who they will be playing under, and the lure of Champions League football won’t be enough to subsidise that.
Levy, as reluctant as he may be to enter the spotlight, needs to make a decisive decision ahead of pre-season if Spurs are to find a way to progress next season.
