Ange Postecoglou could ‘face more trouble’ as Jamie Carragher makes Tottenham prediction

Jamie Carragher’s prediction for Tottenham’s clash against Manchester City could result in the pressure piling back on Ange Postecoglou’s shoulders.

Tottenham’s poor form this term means the Lilywhites currently sit 12th in the Premier League table with only the Europa League left to play for.

As a result, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding Postecoglou’s future in North London with suggestions that the boss is not the man to take Spurs forward.

Carragher backs Manchester City to beat Tottenham

Despite a difficult time of late, the Lilywhites seem to have turned a bit of a corner with three wins from their last three Premier League games.

However, a game against Manchester City on Wednesday (26 February) leaves some uncertainty over which way their form will go.

Furthermore, with City also struggling to get the results they want this term, it is a game between two sides who have had zero consistency.

Spurs have won just 10 games throughout the campaign so far, losing 13 of their matches. Meanwhile, their opponents have won 13 and lost eight games showing there are similarities already.

Casting his Super Six prediction (25 February), Carragher said: “Tottenham usually do well versus Manchester City at home but I think Pep’s men did ok against Liverpool and will have enough to win. Prediction: 1-2.”

Ange Postecoglou needs Tottenham consistency

It is a hard one to call, as Carragher points out, with both sides throwing up some very unexpected results throughout the campaign so far.

Spurs’ 4-0 thrashing of City at The Etihad back in November feels like a lifetime ago, and after some shocking results in between, they are back against City.

However, every week there is the anticipation to see which Tottenham come out with them surely being one of the most inconsistent sides in the Premier League.

The Lilywhites need to all out again though, as three wins are not enough to completely remove the pressure from Postecoglou’s shoulders.

Sitting so low in the table and being knocked out of two cup competitions means there is pressure on the Australian to get his side improving against the very best.

What’s more, Postecoglou hasn’t been shy about his expectation of winning a trophy in his second season managing the club, which could soon look very silly.

While a loss wouldn’t be the end of the road for the Spurs boss, Tottenham will be unable to save their season if they don’t build momentum in the next part of the campaign.
